PUBLIC DOMAIN SONGS WITH GRACE TEXT
---------------------------------------------------------------
Last modification: September 29th 2024

Bad News - Good News image

When we praise and worship our Lord and Saviour with songs, it is important that the words of these songs correspond with what we believe. Therefore, it is sad to conclude that in many Grace Churches the songs they sing are not based on the gospel of the grace of God but on the kingdom gospel. And this causes confusion, especially to the ones who are new to the distinction between the Body of Christ and the nation Israel.
So grace bible believers should be careful to read and study the words of the songs they sing, as the text of many traditional songs have nothing to do with the teachings of the apostle Paul.

Below please find a list of public domain songs with grace text. You will first see a list of all available songs in pdf and afterwards the grace text of each song is being shown.
The music of many songs can be found on https://www.hymnal.net/en/song-index/h. If you sing the songs with many people, it might be an idea that some with a good voice sing a couplet and all sing the chorus.

You can print the first 22 songs in a booklet of 8 double sided papers (A4 size or letter size). It's important to use the "Booklet" option when you print the songs.
For the song book in a PDF file for A4 size paper, click on: SONGBOOK IN A PDF FILE (A4 SIZE)
For the song book in a PDF file for letter size paper, click on: SONGBOOK IN A PDF FILE (LETTER SIZE)

                                       songbook

We have tried to let the text correspond with the doctrine for this dispensation of Grace. Especially, we want the text to emphasize the personal need to believe only in the death, burial and resurrection on the third day of Jesus Christ in order for a sinner to become heaven-bound, instead of hell-bound.
Any suggestion to improve the text is highly appreciated. Also, please inform if you know about other public domain songs with grace text or have one created by yourself.

opsom GO, TELL THE UNBELIEVERS (to the tune of GO, TELL IT ON THE MOUNTAIN)

           Go, tell the unbelievers
           what's their fate beyond the grave
           Go, tell the unbelievers
           that Jesus Christ can save.

1. His sinless life was given;
    Christ was for three days dead:
    That sinners might reach heaven
    His precious blood was shed.

2. God tells the unbeliever
    of the place that he must go,
    With satan, the deceiver,
    to that place of awful woe.

3. Many reject God's favor,
    to Calvary not a budge,
    Refusing Christ as Saviour,
    they'll deal with Christ as Judge.

4. You're still among the living,
    this is still the day of grace;
    At this present time of giving;
    why not take the sinner's place.

5. Let the Lord give you salvation;
    let Christ be born in you:
    Then in Christ a new creation,
    you'll enjoy a new life true.

           Go, tell the unbelievers
           what's their fate beyond the grave
           Go, tell the unbelievers
           that Jesus Christ can save,
           that Jesus Christ can save.

opsom GOD ALMIGHTY, GOD ALMIGHTY (to the tune of ARE YOU SLEEPING)

1. God Almighty, God Almighty
    sent His Son, sent His Son,
    to sa-ve you and me,
    to sa-ve you and me,
    from hell's flames, from hell's flames.

2. So my friend, so my friend
    Are you saved? Are you saved?
    Put your trust on Jesus,
    put your trust on Jesus,
    by faith alone, by faith alone.

3. Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ
    died for my sins, died for my sins,
    was re-sur-rec-ted,
    was re-sur-rec-ted,
    from the dead, from the dead.

4. Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit,
    dwells in me, dwells in me,
    to guide and to make me,
    to guide and to make me,
    Christ alike, Christ alike.

Grace text: www.badnewsgoodnews.net

list-item GOD OF ALL GRACE (to the tune of BLESSED ASSURANCE)
1. God planned in heaven,    to send from above
    His bosom Companion,    Son of His love,
    To live among sinners,    to die on the tree,
    receive God's judgment    for you and for me.

2. What love, what mercy!    What infinite grace!
    Jesus was willing    to die in our place.
    God sent the Spirit    to convict us of sin,
    make us new creatures    abide then within.

           God of all grace    is a wonderful name:
           How great it is    His grace to proclaim;
           Tell forth the gospel    at home and abroad,
           Teach guilty sinners    the great love of God.

3. Grace excludes boasting,    religion or deeds;
    Provides for a sinner    all that he needs.
    In Christ we're accepted,    complete in God's Son;
    Saved without doing,    by work He has done.

4. Not by man's wisdom,    endeavor or plan;
    Utterly futile    the best work of man.
    Cause Christ was sinless    God can be just
    Justify freely    all who will trust.

           Chorus

5. All who trust Jesus    of glory are sure,
    Kept by God's power,    forever secure.
    Christ, in God's presence,    appears for His own
    Makes intercession    as He sits on God's throne.

6. Sealed by the Spirit    who abides all the way,
    Believers are waiting    for that glorious day;
    Blessed Lord Jesus    shall in glory appear;
    Day of redemption    We wonder how near.

           Chorus

7. All that is mortal    no longer shall be,
    In glorified bodies    our Lord we shall see.
    If we are faithful,    with Him we shall reign,
    Our labours in Jesus    shall not be in vain.

8. Such grace abounding,    such power Divine!
    Why do we falter,    doubt or repine?
    Why do lost sinners    remain in their state
    Condemned now already    hereafter such fate?

           Chorus

Grace text: www.badnewsgoodnews.net based on the first poem of "GRACE POEMS" by spiritual leader Mr. J.C. O'Hair
(see https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/GRACE-POEMS.pdf)

list-item GRACIOUS PROVISION (to the tune of BE THOU MY VISION - the video below has subtitles)

1. As prophets predicted,
    the Lord Jesus came;
    healed the afflicted,
    the sick, and the lame.
    Preached to the hardened,
    the poor and oppressed;
    delivered and pardoned
    the demon-possessed.

2. In mercy and kindness
    He pleaded in vain,
    rulers in blindness
    would not have Him reign.
    Rulers insisted,
    that He die on a tree;
    Christ never resisted,
    for He knew it must be.

3. The Saviour was smitten,
    as prophets had said;
    as it was written,
    He arose from the dead.
    Sinner's redemption,
    none other could pay,
    no single exemption,
    there's no other way.

4. Despite man's condition,
    whatever he's done,
    God gives remission
    in the blood of His Son.
    Sins are forgiven,
    and then after this;
    blessings of heaven,
    how great such a bliss.

5. No man can alter,
    God's own revealed way.
    Why do men falter,
    why doubt and delay?
    Gracious provision,
    yet many are lost.
    What's your decision?
    Have you counted the cost?

Grace text: www.badnewsgoodnews.net based on the poem "THE WONDERFUL STORY" of "GRACE POEMS" by spiritual leader Mr. J.C. O'Hair (see pages 20-22 on https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/GRACE-POEMS.pdf)

1. Christ in me the hope of glory,
    witnessed by the Holy Ghost.
    I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise!
    Telling forth the gospel hist'ry;
    cross of Christ my only boast.
    I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise.

           I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise!
           Amen! I did rise! Hallelujah!
           In the resurrection morning,
           when death's prison bars were broken,
           I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise.

2. Our work is no exemption;
    our hope is God's dear Son.
    I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise!
    In His blood there is redemption;
    yes, the work has all been done.
    I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise.

3. Hope of heaven is depending,
    on our faith in His shed blood.
    I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise!
    God's gift is life unending,
    for this gift give thanks to God.
    I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise.

4. Calling others to believe Him,
    God's own Son, His gift of love.
    I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise!
    Eternal life for all who trust Him,
    eternal bliss in heaven above.
    I did rise, Hallelujah! I did rise!

list-item JESUS CHRIST, JESUS CHRIST (to the tune of JINGLE BELLS)
1. From heaven Christ came down
    to manifest God's grace,
    To die for all our sins,
    to take the sinner's place.
    Was born in Bethlehem,
    was born for David's throne;
    Born in David's family;
    He came unto His own.

           Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ,
           Jesus died for me.
           All my sins were washed away
           at the cross of Calvary, hey!
           Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ,
           Jesus set me free
           Oh what joy it is to live
           for the One who died for me!

2. His own did not believe;
    the Prince of Life was killed;
    God's plan was hereby done;
    the Scriptures were fulfilled.
    They put Him in a grave,
    as He Himself had said;
    His resurrection prophesied;
    God raised Him from the dead.

3. By Christ our God forgives;
    He loves, He cares, He keeps.
    Our living Intercessor
    in heaven never sleeps;
    For every task and trial
    God supplies the grace;
    Abundant and sufficient
    for every single case.

4. If we go by dying,
    God tells us in His Word,
    That absent from the body
    is present with the Lord.
    And if with Christ we suffer,
    some day with Him we'll reign;
    Our service for His glory
    will never be in vain.

Grace text: www.badnewsgoodnews.net based on parts of the poem "GRACE CAME BY CHRIST" of "GRACE POEMS" by spiritual leader Mr. J.C. O'Hair (see pages 14-16 on https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/GRACE-POEMS.pdf)

opsom LET THE WORD OF CHRIST (to the tune of LET US BREAK BREAD TOGETHER)

1. Let the word of Christ richly dwell in us,
    Let the word of Christ richly dwell in us;

    Oh Lord, help me to be bold.

2. Let us not be like others who are asleep,
    Let us not be like others who are asleep;
    as we travel through this age,
    telling the lost about God's grace;
    Oh Lord, help me to be bold.

3. Let us put on the armor of faith and love,
    Let us put on the armor of faith and love;

opsom MATCHLESS GRACE (to the tune of BEULAH LAND)

1. A wretched sinner once was I,
    Condemned by guilt and sure to die.
    And then His grace mine eyes did see,
    He saved my soul and set me free!

           O matchless grace! Redeeming grace!
           I long to see His blessed face.
           He shed His precious blood for me,

           His glory share, His grace adore,
           A child of God forever more!

    Believed His Word, and heard Him say,
    "Eternal Life I give to thee,"
    My heart now sings this melody!

5. Someday He's coming back for me,
    And then His blessed face I'll see.
    His grace complete - in one accord,
    The grace of God! My blessed Lord!

Grace text: Pastor Jeff Farrell

opsom ONWARD, TRUE BELIEVERS (to the tune of ONWARD, CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS)

1. Christ came down from glory, from His home above,
    What a wondrous story, proof of Father's love;

    All may understand it, peace by Christ was made.
    Prophets had foretold Him  leaving an empty grave;
    No way death could hold Him, Jesus Christ can save.

4. Satan was defeated, Christ from death arose;
    In heav'n He is seated, waiting till His foes
    All of God's creation, shall get just reward;
    Do not miss salvation, gift of Christ the Lord.

5. Before His wrath appearing, before we are to die,
    Rapture day is nearing, Christ coming from the sky.
    All the saints will greet Him, caught up in the air;
    What a joy to meet Him, then His glory share.

opsom PUT YOUR FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS (to the tune of TURN YOUR EYES UPON JESUS)

1. O soul, are you lonely and troubled?
    No light in the darkness you see?
    There's light for who trusts in the Savior,
    New life so abundant and free.

           Put your faith in Christ Jesus,
           Know that He died in your place,
           And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
           In the light of His glory and grace.

2. Through death into life everlasting,
    He passed, and like Him we shall be;
    O'er us sin no more has dominion
    For more than conqu'rors are we!.

3. His Word shall not fail you, He promised;
    Believe Him, it saves you from hell;
    Then go to a world that is dying,
    His perfect salvation to tell!

opsom REDEEMED, HOW I LOVE TO PROCLAIM IT

1. Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it,
    Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
    Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
    His child, now forever, I am.

           Redeemed, redeemed,
           Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
           Redeemed, redeemed,
           His child, now forever, I am.

2. Redeemed and so happy in Jesus,
    No language my future can tell;
    I know that the light of His Spirit
    In me does continually dwell.

3. I think of my blessed Redeemer,
    I think of Him every day long;
    I sing, for I cannot be silent;
    His love is the theme of my song.

4 I know I shall see in His heaven
    The Head in whose grace I delight;
    Who lovingly follows my footsteps,
    And giveth me peace in the night.

opsom   SAVED BY GRACE (to the tune of AULD LANG SYNE - the videos below have subtitles)

1. In Christ believers rest secure,
    Judgment passed and heaven sure;
    No wrath to come; but blessed peace;
    Life in Christ shall never cease.

           Saved by God's grace; not what we do;
           By faith in Christ we're new.
           Complete in Christ and with Him one,
           All the glory to God's Son.

2. He brought with Him the reign of grace;
    In death He took our place;
    God spared Him not, but from above
    He sent His Son of love.

3. His precious blood for us was shed;
    In the tomb Christ three days dead.
    He rose from death; an empty grave;
    By this gospel God can save.

4. Beseeching men God's gift to take
    Know that God, for Jesus' sake,
    Will cleanse, forgive and justify;
    Christ's blood will bring them nigh.

5. In God's Book 'tis said, "we know"
    At once His saints shall go
    To be with Him and like Him be
    God's glory always see.

opsom SING, OH, SING OF MY REDEEMER

1. I will sing of my Redeemer,
    And His wondrous love to me;
    On the cruel cross He suffered,
    From the curse to set me free.

           Sing, oh, sing of my Redeemer,
           With His blood He purchased me;
           On the cross He achiev'd my pardon,
           I believed, and now I'm free.

2. I will tell the wondrous story,
    How my lost estate to save,
    In His boundless love and mercy,
    He the ransom freely gave.

3. I will praise my dear Redeemer,
    His triumphant pow'r I'll tell,
    How the victory He gives me,
    Over sin, and death and hell.

4. I will sing of my Redeemer,
    And His heav'nly love for me;
    He from death to life has brought me,
    Son of God, with Him to be.

list-item THE RAPTURE SONG (to the tune of WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS)
1. Death may soon overtake us,
    but our hope is not to die;
    but be changed at Christ's appearing,
    in the twinkling of an eye.
    In resurrection bodies,
    we with saints on earth still here,
    shall be caught away to heaven,
    in God's glory to appear.

2. Of that transforming moment,
    we are told in God's Book,
    and for that hope so blessed,
    the redeemed should ever look.
    To reign with Christ in glory,
    is God's promise of reward,
    if we suffer while we're waiting,
    if we suffer for the Lord.

3. It will mean to miss earth's sorrows
    in the coming day of wrath;
    how blessed then believers,
    choosing God's righteous path.
    Oh what bliss eternal
    for sinners saved by grace,
    no death, no sin, no sickness,
    when we behold His face.

4. Above with Christ the Saviour
    where joy shall never cease,
    this the great salvation message
    in the gospel of His peace.
    Be-cause the Lord of glory
    went to Calvary's lonely tree;
    suffered there for hellbound sinners;
    gave His blood for you and me.

5. Christ's death is unavailing
    and His sacrifice for naught,
    if you reject God's offer,
    the redemption Christ has wrought.
    Why then despise God's goodness
    and choose eternal grief,
    why neglect the great salvation
    and die in unbelief.

Grace text: www.badnewsgoodnews.net based on the last part of the poem "THE PRINCE OF PEACE IS COMING" of "GRACE POEMS" by spiritual leader Mr. J.C. O'Hair (see pages 11-13 on https://www.bereanbiblesociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/GRACE-POEMS.pdf)

opsom THROUGH FAITH ALONE I AM JUSTIFIED (to the tune of DOWN AT THE CROSS)

1. Down at the cross where my Savior died,
    There to my sin was the blood applied,
    Through faith alone I am justified;
    Glory to His name!

           Glory to His name,
           Glory to His name;
           Through faith alone I am justified;
           Glory to His name!

2. I am now saved from the pow'r of sin,
    The Holy Spirit abides within;
    Thanks to the cross Jesus took me in,
    Glory to His name.

3. Oh, precious Savior who died for me,
    I'll live with Him for eternity;
    For freedom Christ has set me free;
    Glory to His name.

4. Trust in this fountain before it's too late;
    Shun the lake of fire as your fate,
    Plunge in today, and complete be made;
    Glory to His name.

Grace text: www.badnewsgoodnews.net

This song is very special if you also believe that Christ His blood fell on the unused part of the mercy seat located in a cave under the cross.

opsom IT CLEARLY PROVES (to the tune of WHEN THE SAINTS GO MARCHING IN)

1. Oh when the Lord, died for my sins
    Oh when the Lord died for my sins
    It clearly proves how much He loved me
    When the Lord died for my sins

2. Oh when the Lord, rose from the grave
    Oh when the Lord rose from the grave
    It clearly proves that death was conquered
    When the Lord rose from the grave

3. Oh when the lost, are told God's grace
    Oh when the lost are told God's grace
    It clearly proves how much we love them
    When the lost are told God's grace

4. Oh when the lost, end up in hell
    Oh when the lost end up in hell
    It clearly proves that God acts justly
    When the lost end up in hell

5. Oh when the Lord, will rapture me
    Oh when the Lord will rapture me
    It clearly proves my home is heaven
    When the Lord will rapture me

6. Oh when the Lord, gives you a crown
    Oh when the Lord gives you a crown
    It clearly proves that you have served Him
    When the Lord gives you a crown
